Planets

Circles symbolise the organic growth from the heart of every tree and I’ve used the shape here to represent planets with their moonscape surfaces, with imaginary eclipses where the planets overlap.

The straight cut pine with its strong bold orange stripes was the backdrop to contrast with the intricate, mottled, moon like surfaces of the burr cut woods of Ash, Walnut and Madrona. Of the three, Walnut burr is my favourite. I love its dark, smoky twists and I deliberately chose light toned woods to surround it, so nothing could compete with its glorious dominance.
